In our time, we are placing increasing importance on sustainable materials. Climate change is making it clear that we need to work with resources that can be replenished in a relatively short time.

Here are just a few that we love to use in interior design. Not only do they enhance the aesthetics of a space, but they also feel good for the people living in it.

Sustainable materials in interiors are now a key trend that benefits both the environment and the health of the occupants. When it comes to redesigning or renovating our homes, we should focus on Eco-friendly materials. Three particularly sustainable materials that are becoming increasingly popular in interiors are cork, wool, and local woods.

Cork is a natural material obtained from the bark of the cork oak. These trees are harvested every nine years, which means they don’t need to be cut down, preserving the forest. Cork is an incredibly versatile material that can be used for flooring, wall coverings, or furniture. It is also highly durable, sound-absorbing, heat-insulating, and hypoallergenic, making it especially suitable for people with allergies.

Wool is another sustainable material that comes from sheep’s fleece. It has a natural resistance to dirt and odors, is biodegradable, and helps regulate humidity, creating a pleasant indoor climate. Wool is ideal for use as a carpet, curtain fabric, or upholstery and adds a cozy, warm atmosphere to any room.

Local woods like oak, beech, or spruce are also highly sustainable materials because they come from regional forests, reducing transportation distances. These woods are long-lasting, easy to maintain, and give any room a natural and timeless beauty. They are perfect for floors, furniture, ceiling panels, or wall shelves, and they help create a healthy indoor environment by absorbing and releasing moisture.

Overall, sustainable materials like cork, wool, and local woods offer many advantages for interiors. They are Eco-friendly, promote health, and are timelessly beautiful. So, if you aim for a sustainable and aesthetic design for your home, you should choose these materials. In doing so, we not only contribute to environmental protection but also create a comfortable and healthy living atmosphere.
